 Test Descriptions

 

MVC: Test location is Moreno Valley College Assessment Center. 16130 Lasselle St. Moreno Valley CA, 92551; 1st floor of Student Services building in room 107.

BCTC: Test location is Ben Clark Training Center Student Resource & Assessment Center. 16888 Bundy Ave, Riverside (March Air Reserve Base), CA, 92518; 1st floor. See left side panel for maps of the BCTC.

Assessment Testing: This test is for students who wish to complete all or part of the college placement test (English, Math and Reading). Students are recommended to look over the Accuplacer Sample Questions before taking their Assessment test. Although it is not a timed test, it takes about 1 ½ to 2 hours to complete the full test.

English as a Second Language Test (ESL): This test is for students who wish to take English as a Second Language classes. The test is designed to measure a student's knowledge of the English language, as well as the student's readiness to take college-level classes. It is not pass or fail; it is only used to determine what level of ESL you will start off in. The ESL test consists of two sections: Listening Comprehension, Grammar/Usage/Reading Comprehension. The Listening Comprehension section is not timed, but the Grammar/Usage/Reading Comprehension section is 50 minutes. It takes about 1 ½ hours to complete the entire test.

Spanish Test: This test is for students who wish to take a Spanish class higher than SPA-1. The Spanish test consists of three sections: Listening Comprehension, Grammar, and Reading Comprehension. The Listening Comprehension section is not timed, but the Grammar and Reading Comprehension section 60 minutes. It takes about 1 ½ hours to complete the entire test.

Walk-in Assessment Testing Requirements: Walk-in testing is only for students taking the English, math and/or reading ACCUPLACER test (No ESL or Spanish). Students wanting to test must have: current MVC application on file; MVC listed as home college; completed online Orientation via student MyPortal or WebAdvisor account; and have not tested within a year or started progression in English, math or reading courses. NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED!! Testing is only offered on specified dates and is on a first-come, first-served basis! Email us at assessment@mvc.edu if you are unsure about your eligibility.

Transition to Success Assessment Testing Requirements: Transition to Success (T2S) testing is geared for first-time college students taking the English, math and/or reading ACCUPLACER test (No ESL or Spanish) and who want help making a successful transition to college. During T2S all students will complete the college orientation, take the assessment test, meet with a counselor, and register for classes. Students wanting to test during T2S must have: current MVC application on file; MVC listed as home college; and not tested within a year or started progression in English, math or reading courses. Appointment cannot be scheduled online. Please confirm your participation via email at assessment@mvc.edu, via text at 951-472-2176, or via telephone at 951-571-6427. The event lasts approximately 4-5 hours total; a meal is provided!

First Year Experience Super Saturday Assessment Testing Requirements: First Year Experience (FYE) Super Saturday testing is geared for current high school students who plan on enrolling full-time for the upcoming Fall semester. During the Super Saturday event, all students will complete a college extended orientation, take the English, math and/or reading ACCUPLACER test (No ESL or Spanish), meet with a counselor, and receive the FYE summer bridge program information. Students wanting to test must have: current MVC application on file; MVC listed as home college; and not tested within a year or started progression in English, math or reading courses. Appointment cannot be scheduled online. Please confirm your participation via email at assessment@mvc.edu, via text at 951-472-2176, or via telephone to the FYE office at 951-571-6334. The event lasts approximately 4-5 hours total
